Katherine Magalif, CEO
Katherine Magalif is a multilingual strategic marketing professional with over fifteen years of communications and event planning experience. Besides leading Samovar Consulting, Katherine directs the Center for Democracy and International Affairs at a private international university in the Washington, DC area.
Prior to founding Samovar Consulting (previously Firebird Agency), Katherine was the Membership Director of TiE-DC, a Mid-Atlantic based association of entrepreneurs and CEOs dedicated to helping entrepreneurs develop successful business enterprises. Under her direction, the organization significantly expanded its programs and services for young and emerging entrepreneurs and exponentially increased female membership. TiE-DC has been credited with playing a role in a number of business deals that have resulted in mergers, federal contracting teamings, and commercial deals.
A graduate of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Katherine earned a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Service and a Master's degree in Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies. She is also active in the community, serving on the boards of several local women's organizations and charities. Katherine is fluent in Russian, Belarusian, French and Italian.
